Who isn’t obsessed with flat lays these days?! There’s just something pleasing about the bird’s eye view of perfectly curated and arranged items that we have come to love and expect on our Instagram feeds. Not only does it tell a story to our viewers, but they are also a perfect way to showcase your brand and / or products. But before you go splurging on some fancy and expensive props to style your photos with, I’m sharing a few items that you probably already have in your possession that will take your flat lay photos from nice to WOW!
Prop Checklist
- Blanket /Throw: Go for solid colors.
- Journal / Planner: Use it closed or open.
- Book: Unless I want to draw attention to the title itself, I remove the sleeve.
- Coffee Mug / Tea Cup: Pick a cup with a shallow profile,
- Small Dish / Cutting Board: Wood & Marble are my fave.
- Something “techy”: iPhone, iPad, AirPods, Laptop, Keyboard, etc…
- Cosmetics: Perfect way to add pop of color!
- Jewelery: Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings.
- Glasses: Who doesn’t own a cool pair of shades!
- Pen or other office supplies: Other items include, paper clips, scissors, paper, staplers, calculator, etc…
- Camera: Extra points if it’s vintage!
- Flowers: Fresh are always best, but even fake ones will do.
