Every day it seems like a friend or family member is launching a new business, website, podcast, etc… I know that navigating the murky waters of friendship and support can be tricky. After all, our time and resources are limited. But speaking as a small business owner myself, our friends and family are supposed to be our biggest fans and supporters, right? So why does it often NOT feel that way? But let’s remedy that situation right here and now! I’m sharing 5 easy things you can do that will mean the absolute world to your small business owning friends (and they don’t cost a thing!) so that you can effectively spread love and encouragement to those in your inner circle who entrepreneurs!
01: Sign up for their email newsletter: This one is super easy and it’s a win/win! The email list is usually where you’ll hear first hand of any new product launches, any discounts / promotions and learn more about the business itself!
02: If you’ve used their product/ service, leave feedback: Offer to leave a review online wherever they market their business and when you do so, be specific! If you have constructive criticism, please be sure give feedback on that too – just do it privately.
03: Engage with their business online: This one is by far one of the best ways you can show your support!
However, engagement is not ONLY pressing the “like” or double tapping! It’s watching the video, reading the post, listening to the podcast & leaving a comment. The more you engage, the more likely their content will be seen by others who could also benefit from what they have to offer.
04: Share their content: Make sure to engage with the content before sharing on your own account. When sharing, make sure you add WHY your followers should check it out. For example:
“Follow Maddy @madhearts for photography hacks and small business tips!”
05: Be a brand evangelist: Even in the digital age, the most powerful way to get new clients
is thru word of mouth! Share your friend’s business with your circle (easier to do this if you’ve tried it yourself).
Make sure to connect your small business friends with each other! They might benefit from a
partnership or collaboration.
